Cleveland Peace Action and Cleveland Nonviolence Network are privileged to host an art exhibition on loan from the Dayton International Peace Museum. To mark the 79th anniversary of the US bombing of Hiroshima (Aug 6) and Nagasaki (Aug 9), the peace groups invite the public to view the art panels for three weekends: Aug 8-10, Aug 15-17, Aug 22-24. 4-8pm
The Cleveland National Air Show, which will take place at Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport over Labor Day weekend. Eight decades after the US detonated the first A-bombs, the US military continues to wreak incredible destruction across the globe (human lives, environmental contamination). The militarization of the US economy, of our young people--of our whole society--is costing us our future. The $800 billion war chest of the US Pentagon is one sign of the great cost we all incur.
As the US military comes to town over Labor Day weekend and puts on its grand display and entices another generation of young people to sacrifice themselves to the war machine, how do we as people committed to peace respond?
Location: Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2592 W.14 St, in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, OH 44113.
Sponsors and supporters: The Cleveland tour of the peace exhibit is sponsored by Cleveland Peace Action and Cleveland Nonviolence Network. The opening night roundtable discussion is being facilitated by the Cleveland Catholic Worker, with support from other peace organizations like IRTF.
