Fair Trade
Description: Fair Trade is a trade model that sets a series of standards to ensure fair wages and human dignity for producers, community investment, environmental sustainability, and more. IRTF promotes Fair Trade as an alternative trade model to the free market/free trade system that currently dominates our world and further divides us into “haves” and “have nots.”
Vision: IRTF envisions a world where people work for themselves and do not have to be dependent on the dominant economic model that perpetuates inequality and exploitation of people and the environment. Instead, self-determination, gender equality, transparency, and democratic organization are the norm.
Supporting cooperatively-owned business so that people work for themselves and do not have to be dependent on the dominant economic model. Instead, self-determination, gender equality, transparency, and democratic organization are the norm.
Educating and organizing consumers to get fair trade and other sweatshop-free products into their schools, congregations, grocery stores and other local businesses.
Fair Trade is a system of exchange that honors producers, communities, consumers, and the environment. It is a model for the global economy rooted in people-to-people connections, justice, and sustainability.
