Invitation from Frankie Pondolph , organizer at Equal Exchange:
In 2018, I had the opportunity to travel with Equal Exchange to the Amazonian rainforest in Northern Peru to visit our farmer partners at Oro Verde. I recently dug up my travel journal from my trip and reflecting over the experience I wrote a lot about the strong sense of community members of Oro Verde had cultivated with their families, on their land, and in their whole being and way of life. I left Peru wanting to intentionally cultivate more community in my own life. Our citizen-consumer community has allowed me to cultivate this intention both in-person and virtually. I know right now I am truly grateful for us to be able to meet and share the experience over zoom.
I want to invite you to an upcoming webinar to learn more about my experience visiting farmer partners at Oro Verde. Oro Verde is responsible for producing cacao for our chocolate bars and chocolate chips. I am excited to share with you my personal experience from this delegation trip and to have Laura Bechard, Equal Exchange’s chocolate supply chain coordinator, share some more technical pieces to our cacao supply chain and lead us through a virtual chocolate tasting! For the chocolate tasting portion we will be using this tasting form.
*Equal Exchange chocolate is encouraged but not required for the tasting! Laura will be tasting Equal Equal Exchange’s 71% Very Dark bar.
Cacao from Oro Verde: A Virtual Chocolate Tasting!
