The program will have three parts: each speaker will present for 30 minutes, followed by a 45-minute Q&A, concluding with a discussion among the speakers.
2:00 - Eduardo Pizarro - Sociologist, professor, journalist, writer, and chronicler of the conflict in Colombia. Founder of the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations of the National University (IEPRI). He is a political analyst and member of several organizations in Colombia, such as the National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation of Colombia and the Trust Board for Victims before the International Criminal Court. He was rapporteur of the Historical Commission on the Conflict and its Victims, created during the peace talks between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP. He is the author of several works on the Colombian armed conflict.
2:30- Carlos Velandia - Consultant on peace and conflict, researcher, writer and columnist. He studied medicine before joining the National Liberation Army (ELN in Spanish), in which he was active from 1972 to 1994 and became a top commander. In 1994 he was captured and spent 10 years in prison. Later he was a spokesman for the ELN in several rounds of peace negotiations. He is currently an officially appointed peace broker.
3:00 - Camilo Villarreal - Law and Political Science student, youth advocate, peace activist, and human rights defender. Since 2016 he has been Youth Coordinator of the Colombian civil society organization Embrace Dialogue. He is co-author and editor of the book "A Ser Historia," published in 2021. He has experience in peace legislation, transitional justice and reconciliation.
