Join IRTF at the annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days conference where we will join with hundreds from across the US to analyze current policies and envision ways to more fully and justly respond to the global and local needs of displaced communities.
US policies create migration push factors, forcing people to leave their homelands:
extreme poverty
entrenched violence
political turmoil
militarized repression against pro-democracy movements
After the conference, we will go to Capitol Hill and meet in the offices of Ohio’s 16 congresspersons and 2 senators. We urge them to support policy changes that advance hope and overcome the devastating impacts of armed violence and climate change. We call for an end to US policies that exacerbate social inequality and violent conditions in Latin America, including the militarization of law enforcement in their countries and militarized immigration enforcement that hurts migrants traveling through Mexico and at the US-Mexico border.
