“Fast – from Consumerism, Stop Buying; and/or Reduce Nutrient Consumption . “It is no time for celebration with so many suffering from starvation, war, disease, and oppression. Too often, U.S. American weapons are at the root of affliction. Nonviolent resistance through assemblies, boycotts, and fasting are our tools. Our focus areas for the Fast/Walk for Humanity are Gaza, Haiti, Sudan, and Yemen all terrorized by U.S.American arms or colonization.
This action is an acceleration of the Fast for Gaza, now in its 46th week of Thursday (and Monday) fasting from sunup to sundown. It is locally organized by Cleveland Nonviolence Network and is in coordination with the Jewish Voice for Peace National Fast for Gaza.
On November 29, 2024, “Black Friday,” we will converge at the Fountain for Eternal Life, the “Peace Fountain”, 120 Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio. This is west of East 6th Street at Rockwell Avenue. Reflections will be offered, beginning with an uplifting reading by Howard Zinn, followed by description of wars and famines, including food insecurity in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. We will walk to take our message to other downtown locations.

A Thirty-day Rolling Fast from November 29 -December 28, 2024 is proposed, as well. Daily reflections on social media, “why we fast” could be amplified.
